So much of Alex Ross’ work over his long and storied career is a love letter to the Bronze Age.
Or, maybe more accurately, a love letter to his childhood.
It stands to reason then, that in addition to the more “comic bookie” depictions that he has drawn of Superman, his favorite character, there have also been plenty of depictions of actors who have portrayed the character. This entails both the George Reeves and Chris Reeve versions of Alex’s youth, but also newer Hollywood as well.
I have long been a fan of Ross’ Superman, and the many, many wonderful depictions of Superman actors that he has worked on have only added another wonderful layer to that body of work.
It is this subset of the maestro’s career that I would like to share with all of you today. Enjoy!
