As rumors persist in the news that Henry Cavill getting a new contract from Warner Bros is looking worse and worse, and no solo Superman movie is currently on the horizon for any time soon, it leaves me as a fan wondering what might have been.
Since there’s no use in crying over spilled milk, I’ll just post this fan made Justice League trailer that features all of Henry Cavill’s scenes as Superman in the black “Resurrection” suit, made famous when the character returned in the landmark “Reign of the Supermen.” We know that a scene with the black suit was cut from the final product, but Henry never wore it for filming. Since us fans love nods to classic comics, someone took it upon themselves to create a video for all the world to see.
As I’ve said a million times on this website, I felt that WB was just starting to figure Superman out, and was really onto something, albeit in glimpses, in last year’s Justice League. Christopher McQuarrie recently said in an interview after the release of Mission: Impossible that he had multiple talks with Cavill on the set of that movie discussing a new Superman film, but ultimately nothing came of it.
All that said, we know he’s Superman, we know he’s a proven commodity, we know he’s been around for eighty years, and we the fans, especially, know that you can’t keep him dead. One day it will happen.
In the meantime, we wonder.
