Alex Ross is a legend.
His work on Kingdom Come alone would be enough to land him in the annals of Superman artist history. And yet he has done so much other incredible work on Superman that elevates him to the upper echelons of any list as well.
His style, admittedly, is completely unique, and a far cry from the chiseled, youthful renditions of the character as most artists depict him, instead favoring the more burley, seasoned strongman. His singular style, however, still emphasizes the noble, powerful, and majestic aspects of the Man of Steel exceptionally well.
Ross has said on many occasions that Superman is his favorite comic character to draw, and it absolutely shows. I’ve mentioned in previous posts that he is my favorite Superman artist ever.
Enjoy some of his beautiful art.
