The Krypton TV Show Digital Comic

Do you remember 2018? Good times for Superman.

Jurgens, Tomasi and Gleason were cooking on Rebirth. Henry Cavill was still Superman, waiting for the next big project. The airwaves had Supergirl and Krypton, shows set in the past, present and future.

In other words, there was good Superman content in comics, movies and tv.

I had enjoyed Krypton season 1 a fair bit, especially the season finale, in which Seg-El is thrown into the Phantom Zone and Zod takes over the planet as Doomsday is released. Talk about exciting! I was amped and ready for season 2 for sure.

Along the way, I had also started following Cameron Cuffe, the show’s star, on Twitter. A huge fan of DC comics past and present, he had a lot of fun interacting with fans. For a while, it sort of felt like we were all celebrating Superman together, which was pretty nice.

To hype season 2 before its premiere in 2019, DC Comics did a brief 3-page prequel comic released digitally and as a bonus feature in some of their comics that month. I remember Cuffe posting about how much of an honor he felt it was having his likeness adapted into a comic, and I had always meant to find it some day and check it out.

I don’t know what possessed me, but I finally tracked down the pages for the first time and read it last week. Although short, I thought it was a fun read and wanted to share it with everyone here.

Krypton wasn’t renewed for a season 3, unfortunately, but at least we can look back at the series fondly. Enjoy!
